A Den is a group of boys in the same grade or age group. There are five types of dens:
Tiger - Grade 1
Wolf - Grade 2
Bear - Grade 3
Webelo I - Grade 4
Webelo II - Grade 5
Den Meetings are a time for learning new things and having fun. Dens are led by a team of adult volunteers - the den leader and assistant den leader (s). Den leaders are usually adult family members of boys in the den.
A Pack is the combination of all five types of Dens. It provides a structure which allows scouts to experience a graduated program.
Typically two Den meetings and one Pack meeting per month.
Pack Meetings occur once a month on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at the South United Methodist Church in Manchester, Ct unless otherwise specified on the Pack Calendar. Boys are expected to wear their Class A Uniforms to Pack Meetings. Because these meetings recognize the accomplishments of our scouts, parents are expected to stay for Pack Meetings. Den meetings vary by Den.
A Class A Uniform is the Field Uniform, which consists of the regulation shirt with patches, hat, neckerchief with slide, belt, shorts/trousers and socks. The Uniform should only be worn while participating in authorized Scout functions.
Military or camouflaged clothing are strictly forbidden with the Scout Uniform. The Uniform should not be worn in a way that would bring discredit upon the Boy Scouts of America.
A Class B uniform is an Activity Uniform. This is a yellow Pack 47 t-shirt. The Activity Uniform is only worn on specific occasions when it would not be appropriate to wear the Field Uniform such as high physical activity or when it may be easily soiled or damaged such as Day Camp, Family Camp or fishing derbys.

Tiger, Wolf and Bear Scouts wear the blue uniform while Webelos and Leaders wear the tan/green uniform.
Den Meetings are about learning new things, having fun and working on projects and accomplishments to be presented at the Pack Meetings.Pack Meetings are a time to recognize the scouts for their accomplishments during the month and to have fun with the entire family!
Cub Scouting offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Service projects, ceremonies, games, and other activities guide boys through the core values and give them a sense of personal achievement. Through positive peer group interaction and parental guidance, boys also learn honesty, bravery, and respect.
The Cub Scout program is designed to compliment many other extracurricular activities. Typical time commitment is two Den meetings and one Pack meeting per month. Boys who participate in organized sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, etc, or academic-based extracurricular activities like music, art, science etc., can be recognized for these activities though Cub Scout belt loops and pins which are worn on their uniform.
Registration cost is $50.00 per scout. Dens may charge an additional Den Fee to cover art supplies for den activities.Uniforms, accessories and summer camp fees are additional. Any awards earned through the scout year will be purchased and paid for by the Pack.
Boys can join at any age from grades 1 through 5. You don’t have to join in First Grade Boys will be placed in a Den with boys of their age and grade.
Boys can join the Pack at anytime throughout the year. Den and Pack meetings are generally held September through June, with a few optional summertime activities.

Belt loops and pins are awarded to scouts completing the three belt loop requirements in an academic subject or sport. Academic belt loops are gold, and Sports belt loops are silver, except for the Archery and BB-gun Shooting belt loops, which are brass colored. Belt loops are worn on the Cub Scout belt. Pins are awarded to scouts that continue participating in an academics or sports area and meet the specific requirements for each pin. Pins typically require completion of the corresponding belt loop requirements plus 5 or 6 more challenging requirements. Information for belt loop requirements is not in the Cub Scout books.
